Pretty Little Sweethearts SLUTS (PLS) is an emerging theatre company for the girls, gays, theys and slays (allies). The company is interested in dismantling the concept of patriarchy, its masculine manifestations and reimagining a feminist utopia.

Created in 2023 by Millie Hanford; a theatre maker from Ōtautahi, now loitering (with intent) in Tāmaki Makaurau after graduating from the Actors’ Program in 2022. Armed with a BA in English Literature from the University of Canterbury and an unhealthy obsession with feminist texts, she’s interested in the messiness of identity, performance, and power. Her creative work often explores personal sore spots such as complex father-daughter dynamics, the pursuit of male validation, and—somewhat ironically—a deep frustration with straight men. The problem isn’t that she hates them… it’s that she loves them.

PLS is birthed out of the frustration of her experience being a young female trying to write and develop work about being young and female. Millie reflects back and sees her voice reshaped, altered and subdued. She wants to create a space to let the female experience SCREAM out in pain, laughter, absurdity, grief, and frustration and to never be told it's too much or too angry or too passive or too emotional or TOO ANYTHING.
